Hello @Ewan1
IF updating your driver (which currently is from March 2016) does not work, then you will have to wait for the fix, unless you can revert back to the Anniversary Update.
HP is working to find a solution to the Creators update breaking Windows Hello and the HP TrueVision IR webcam.
I will contact you with more info soon.
The problem is that, no matter what periods are set, the display does not turn off nor the computer sleep after the set period . It remains running until put to sleep or turned off manually. The plan used is the HP recommended one.
This has been so since the computer was bought 3 days ago. Since that time all Windows and HP updates that have become available have been installed, including an update from build 1703 to 1709, without significant problems. I am reluctant to reinstall Windows from an ISO until I am more sure this is a necessary next step. All other functions are, as far as I know, working well.
Anyone got any ideas?
I had exactly the same problem (after last W10 OS update) and could fix it with your solution. Thank you 4 your support!
I check with HP Support Assistant every night, before I go to bed. There have not been any updated for the laptop in months. My bed-time routine consists of: Check for HP updates; Check for Anti-virus updates; Check for Windoze updates. I do not go to bed until I have done this. I think I found out why the computer was shutting down and restarting itself: I ran Belarc Advisor, and, to my shock, I needed 2 critical updates for the Adobe Flash Player. This did not pop up in Google Chrome, Windows, or even the Adobe Flash update page. I strongly recommend that you all download this freebie. No sudden shutdowns or restarts since.
I tried the suggested solution via Windows Update Catalog but it did not work. I suppose, this is because the hardware ID of my device is 6000 instead of 6007 (both hardward IDs seem to exist, but the driver in the Windows Update Catalog is described to support only 6007). What worked for me (at least in the sense that the device driver is not showing an error mark anymore) is to install the Windows 8 driver from the HP page (V5.1.12.1) in the compatibility mode (setting on Windows 8).
Question: Can someone tell me, how the Protection Device is configured (i.e. where can it be turned on and off etc.)?
suecris wrote:This is driving me crazy. I have tried the unplugging, and hope it works. Just want HP to know that this, along with other feeble lame attempts to push their own company at the cost of my convenience and sanity, have ruined their company for me permanently. No more HP calculators for my kids, no more hp computers. I hate this company!
I hope this works. How annoying and yet HP wants customers to like their products!
Hi , I want to do clean installation for windows 10 pro for my laptop for USB drive , but if I want to re-install the pre-instaleld windows 10 with drivers from Recovery USB that I have created when first time I used the laptop , Will I be able to do this after making clean installation for windows 10 pro on mylaptop as I'm afraid that may some features as face id and finger print sensor may not work when doing clean installation ?
Thank you
Hi
Thank you for responding,
It's great to have you back
It looks like you were interacting with
I'm the Barachiel & I'm at your service.
Goto search, and search for services.msc Look for Synaptic FP WBF Policy Service in the list. right click on it and then click "stop".
once it is done, copy this, C:\ProgramData\Synaptics and then Goto search again , paste it and hit enter. The synaptics folder will open, wherein you would find the ValidityService.log txt file. delete it.
Goto notepad and open a new file. Rename it to ValidityService.log and then paste it in the C:\ProgramData\Synaptics folder.
Once done, Goto search, and search for services.msc. Look for Synaptic FP WBF Policy Service. right click on it and then click "start".
Let me know how that pans out.
If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,
Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner,
Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum. Have a great day!
Regards,
Why you have to do twice and get back to the square one ?
1. If you wish to do a clean install then forget the Recovery USB,
2. If you wish to use Recovery USB then forget the clean install.
Because doing both, the second one will overwrite the first one. Now you have to make decision: get back to factory settings (with all drivers) or fresh install then finding drivers yourself ?

So for the past week or so I've gotten a message when I turn on my computer that HP accelerometer doesn't work with this version of windows. I looked online and found this thread . I followed the directions but it seemd to have no effect, it still gives me the error message when I turn on my computer. It sounds like my accelerometer is there to keep my harddrive safe, so I'd much appreciate it running.
Thanks.

My previous reply sais:
(a) Clone existing HDD to SSD, you don't need to reinstall Winsows and programs/applications.
If the SSD is same size or larger (capacity) you can move the WHOLE HDD to SSD.

Hi:
The thread you linked doesn't go anywhere.
This is the latest recommended solution to the issue...
I already made factory recovery re-installation but my laptop is laggy and feeling that something is wrong with programs, and my fan is active even during idle mode ( when plugging my laptop with AC ) , so I think that making cleaning installation will improve these things , but I'm afraid if I do clean installation and sensors not work as smooth as used to be , or affect startup time of my laptop , so if this happenes I will re-install the factory image using the USB image recovery that's why I'm keeping it ?
Computer was very slow starting up. I checked for updates and it said there was some. I attempted to get them downloaded and installed then it asked for a restart. I did the restart and I seem to be in a loop with the same message "Getting Windows ready, Don't turn off computer" for the last 1/2 hour or so.
I bought this pc yesterday. I find that I can't just highlight a text and paste it elsewhere. Ctr+C does not work. What may be the solution please? The touchpad is just a plain square.
Thanks for replying. Intel graphics control panel's interface is a bit different than the photo you send in the reply. Those 2 options in vertical sync is "use application settngs" and "use driver settings" . I chosed use application settings but, unfortunately the issue goes on. Maybe my intel graphics control panel's version is just different so i am actually not doing as you showed in the picture. So should i update the panel?
