Ideas
Before you make any changes, Create a Restore Point:
Stop all programs: Browsers, games, Applications, etc.
Control Panel> icon view > System> System Protection>
Click (Highlight) your main disk (C) > Select Create a Restore Point
Perform a Hard Reset (device reset)
- Perform the Hard Reset for your notebook
- Boot the computer and log in
Reminder: Forced Reset is a device Reset. The Forced Reset procedure does not wipe out your files nor does it destroy your Windows software or data in any way. It just "clears the cobwebs". Depending on the cause of the problem, this kind of "reset" can fix a variety of computer glitches.
Reinstall the Validity Driver
- Open the Device Manager > open Biometric > Right-Click on your Validity Driver > Uninstall
- Shut down the computer, wait a few seconds, boot and log in
The driver will reinstall itself as you boot / log into the machine.
Reinstall the HP SimplePass Program
Assuming you are still using the "old" Series 6 HP SimplePass program) >
Download and install the latest version of the Series 6 HP SimplePass program:
sp63224 HP SimplePass V6.0.100.276 Win7-8
OR
IF you have previously switched to the "new" Series 8 HP SimplePass prgram >
Download and install the latest version of the Series 8 HP SimplePass program:
sp76923 HP SimplePass V8.01.62A W7-W10 32/64bit
After you install the program > Reboot the computer and log in
Remember:
- Series 6 HP SimplePass, that is, any version 6.x and even the ancient 5.x versions of HP SimplePass, are the AuthenTec code (written by AuthenTec).
- Series 8 HP SimplePass, that is, any version 8.x (or higher) of HP SimplePass, is the Softex code that is currently supported and available for Windows 7 through Windows 10.
- The two series are NOT, repeat NOT compatible with one another. The two programs cannot be on the computer at the same time.
- The code is different, the encryption is different, there is not conversion program between Export database (backup of website / passwords)
You can Switch series:
- Uninstall one series > reboot > install the other series > reboot
- Series 8 is NOT an "upgrade" to Series 6.
