Depends on what you used to make the Backup. There is Windows Backup in Control Panel or you could have used the very basic backup using HP Recovery Manager.
If you used the backup part of HP Recovery Manager that one is a very do-it-yourself type. You should have an .EXE file on the first disk-probably RecoveryMgr.exe . Click that .EXE file to start extracting the files to a folder on your hard drive. It will ask for each successive disk in the backup and extract the files. Once they are extracted to the folder on your laptop hard drive, it is your task to move them to appropriate location.Such as photos have to be moved to My Pictures, documents to my Documents, etc.
