Have a laptop Product ID A6Y53UA#ABA. Wife purchased this new last year and took it to the Stan when she deployed. Crashed over there but she was able to get one of the Army techs to get it back up for her. Brought it home and gave it to me. Hasn't been used much but was surfing the web (no porn) and over a few days it became slow to run and then it "locked up" and wouldn't power off, so I unplugged it and popped the battery. Waited a few minutes and put battery back and turned it on. Booted to screen where it said it wasn't powered off correctly and asked if I wanted safe mode or regular. did the safe mode and it booted to a gray screen and just stopped (waited 30 minutes). Wouldn't turn off so did the battery thing. Booted to choice of boot normally or do system repair. Did system repair and goes to a gray screen with the MS Windows symbol. Waited. Nada. Battery thing again. Chose boot normally. Boots to same windows symbol screen. Waited some more. Slammed into bookcase. Waited few days! Well now it will at least turn off without the battery thing???? Esc during boot to menu and selected system diags. Ran the "startup test", it fails iwth the error code above in subject line. Passes memtest, and smart check. Fails "short DST" test. Windows 7 and hasn't been used much. Anyway what is wrong?
