Hello,
I am having a problem with a Presario CQ61-410 SV laptop. The laptop powers up, fan starts but screen remains black and I get caps lock and num lock leds blinking twice suggesting a BIOS corruption.
I browsed the Internet and read many forums here and there trying to recover the BIOS via a USB flash disk.
My HDD is replaced so the USB is the one way to go.
My first problem is that the links in the official HP support page seem to be all wrong.
The BIOS download provided here
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=gr&dlc=el&sw_lang=&product=4099542
has a BIOS for my laptop but it clearly states that it is for an Intel processor.Problem is that the CQ61-410SV has an AMD processor.
However, I did download the provided file for the BIOS. I extracted it and got the .fd file that is supposed to be the one that needs to be flashed. I copied the file to a USB flash disk that had previously prepared withe the provided HP UEFI tool. I tried putting the file into the BIOS folders "Current" and "Previous" in the USB flash disk and powered on the laptop holding the windows key + B combination. The laptop did read from the USB returned some beeps, rebooted but then got the same bios corruption failure. I tried putting the .fd file to the root of the USB, tried changing the extension to .bin, tried different names for the files (as some posts through the Internet suggest)m I even tried different combinations of all of the above. The laptop does read from the USB disk and returns some beeps ( I even got 20 beeps) but then the problem persists. I even tried previous BIOS versions from the HP official support which also state that they are for intel processors.
So the questions are:
1. Are the HP links wrong? Has HP messed up their links or is it just a typo?
2. If we assume that the downloaded BIOS file from HP is fine, what should be its name and extension (after extracted from the .exe file I get a .fd file) and where in the USB flash disk should I put it.
3. Which is the proper BIOS recovery procedure for the Presario CQ61-410SV
Thank hoy everybody in advance.
