unable to install drivers

Hi,
I installed windows 7 in my pc. now my laptop is not taking the drivers. I am having some difficulties in finding the right drivers. Could you provide the link for proper softwares and drivers?

Hi,

 

At the password screen, hit enter 3 times and you should receive a 'halt code' - post back with this code.

Trojan Horse + Not loading

I've downloaded a trojan horse virus onto my laptop. I have tried to reset my laptop but it wont reset. I've left my laptop untouched for a while and just gave up with it but resently I've gone back to it and ran a start up (esc then f11), letting it go back to windows 10 but it's just stuck on the hp logo. I don't know what do do with it now.

Hey there , Welcome to HP forums.

 

I understand that you need AMD graphics driver for your laptop.

 

According to specifications of your laptop, Unit was shipped with windows 8.1.

 

So the video drivers are available only for windows 8.1 and you can use the same on windows 10.

You can uninstall HP welcome by going into your main drive-->Program Files-->HP--->HP welcome and run the uninstall as administrator (right click run as administrator)

 

This solved the issue for me!

I am able to connect a CDROM drive to the switch however not able to access the CD/DVD contents. I don't see anything in the manual concerning CD/DVD ROM configuration however do see that a drive can be connected. Is there any documentation on the CD/DVD drive installation?

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I read your post about problems with your new HP PC and wanted to help.

You should not be having problems with a PC this new.

While this PC is still under warranty, you should contact HP Customer Support directly to have them put you in touch with HP Technical Support to see what they can do about diagnosing and repairing your machine remotely.

I did this recently and the HP Tech was able to remotely access my PC from the Internet and do the needed repairs.

Office 365 is a subscription service and it can be configured on a PC in several different ways.

 

One of these ways is that your PC comes only with a subscription code and you they have to download and install the software from Microsoft.

 

Since the person from "the store" used a USB stick, my guess is that they installed from there instead of going to Microsoft to get the download.

 

We can do nothing about add-in products on this forum; instead, you have to contact HP Customer Support directly to deal with these issues.

Hi ,

 

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. It is a great site for information and questions.  I read your post about the unit having Wi-Fi issues and you downloaded the driver from hp.com which you say caused some issues on the machine and you had to reset the unit to get the issue resolved.

 

At the outset, you have done a terrific job on troubleshooting and I am really impressed at your troubleshooting skills and levels of technical expertise. Your point is taken, however, the driver page is always very organized and should not cause any issues. As there are several customized computers and several different wifi cards and other cards to choose from, all the drivers get listed on the same page in a very organized manner.   I am really happy that you have been able to resolve the issue.

 

 Please always check in device manager as to what driver is listed for your computer and then download the required driver from the HP support site for your computer to update the drivers.

If there are any further issues with the unit, please let me know and I will be always at your service.

I grasp that your optical drive has failed and you are looking to replace it, but would like one that support Blu- Rays. You have located some  on Newegg but are unsure if they will fit.  The actual shape and screw pattern locations  may vary with the model of laptop. There are other variables also such as some have removable parts such as a bezel. You would need to know the dimensions of the original one. You will also need to make sure the screw patterns match. Here is a link to the HP Pavilion dv7 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service Guide Please note chapter 3, page 26, item 13b, for the recommended replacements.  Here is a link to the HP Parts Store for your convenience.  You can also take the part number and do a web search for it.
